**TWO notes from the Goat: The official 50 Mile male winner in the Green Swamp was Andrew Barrett. The guy who ran the fastest 50 miles in the Green Swamp was Trent Humphreys. Both got winning Gator Skulls and both deserve to win! How can that be? It’s a story as long as the trail … as it was, Trent and his side kick was goin’ so fast that they confused the aid station worker who sent them off the wrong way, having them run the entire north loop of the trail first. Our solution, send them off to run the west loop of the trail last, tweak their route to be about 50 miles, then blend them in to the finish. Trent ran about 90% of the same trail as the official course and on his Garmin he ran 51+ miles and came across the line first. But, Andrew can’t be denied the win after leading the race the entire day, knowing he was the first through each aid station … So, two great performances and two winners.

The official 50 K male winner in the Green Swamp was Richard Nixon. The guy who ran the fastest 50K in the Green Swamp was Chris Mottola. Both got winning Gator Skulls and both deserve to win! How can that be? It’s a story as long as the trail, but slightly different than the 50 Mile tale … as it was, Chris was also going so fast that he confused the aid station worker who sent him off the wrong way, having him run an extra loop at the start. Our solution, have him take a short cut at Traffic Jam, then blend him into the finish. Chris ran more than 90% of the same trail as the official course and on his Garmin he ran 31.9 miles and came across the line first. But, Richard can’t be denied the win after leading the 50K race the entire day, knowing he was the first through each aid station … So, two great performances and two winners. 2011? The rematch???
